Ok I was told if you pick a chicken up by its feet and its head pops up it is a roo if the head hands down it is a girl. I haven't tried this yet. has anybody else tried this ????

Nope, not true. I remember when I first joined BYC, that was going around. I had like 50 baby chicks. I did the methods and documented it. Then when I was able to tell by looking at them what the sex was, I compared my paper and I was so off by a long ways

Load of bull.

I worked at a feedstore and this woman routinely came in and purchased "pullets". She went to the pre-sexed bin and would purchase the birds that would lay with their heads back. Only the females had the wingbands...she never got a wing-banded bird as she claimed every one she picked up were males.


I vent sex as well as profile sex....the hatchery was only off by maybe 3 birds out of 100.
