OK, first post: raised kids, dogs, cats, fish, reptiles and gardens. Only ate from the garden. Not sure I could eat a pet, but I love yummy fresh eggs and know their other by-product is great for my gardens...so here I am. Recently purchased rural land in Cortland County, and once there is a place for them I intend to be ready with the knowledge.
My sister has been farming many kinds of birds for over twenty years and informed me that I cannot just introduce grown chickens from different sources. I'm wondering if I can mix different kinds from the time they are chicks if they come from different places? Would it be better to get fertile eggs and try to hatch them together?
Ok, perhaps mostly new eggs will be here to see this, though I appreciate any advice on this topic.
If someone from the area would like a new friend, please respond!
Make it an egg-cellent day!
