I know! Thats why i would LOVE a few 2-3 black bearded pullets from him. To put back into my breeding of lavs All I have now are splits that I created and some are lacking in areas where others are lacking in other things...all have great toes-but I love fluffy feet and mine need that-some have great top notches some dont but this has been my little project for 2 years and Im just going to keep improving for me and the breed ( and sell some eggs along the way to support them
Projects are fun though! I've got a few going on right now. Wanna breed back the splits and try to get a decent pure Lav line. Two pens of Tolbunt Polish going, which we will end up growing out lots of babies to strengthen that line. Luckily, I've got some GREAT friends who are a text message away to help when I have questions. I've got two pens of hatchery layers right now, BLRW's in one of them. Thinking I'm gonna get rid of the one pen full of hatchery stock to use it as a grow out pen. Then my BLRW's and OE's will be in the other. Lots of little breeding pens through the yard, and more to build yet, it seems like a never ending battle to stay ahead of the game, lol.
Thats what Im doing with my splits. I had a lav roo-not the best quality but enough to get me started-mated him to the black bearded hens-that took over a year. Then grow out all the splits-hatched around 75-kept 8 ( well 7-1 will be processed at chickenstock too gangly and not nearly enough fluff) now I have a broody over 5 split eggs and Im praying to get a pure lav or two out of it. Id love a hen or two from Bob to improve my fluff!!!! His are soooooo Fluffy!!!
