Hello,
My name is Rachel and I have been raising chickens in our unincorporated city backyard for 18 years now.
I love to share a variety of colored eggs with friends and neighbors and have sprouted my own feed mix now for about 6 years. I use a deep litter method to keep our yard nice and our chickens have given us the benefit of many cubic yards of wonderful compost that we excavate and put on our garden spaces yearly.
Backyard Chickens Forum has been a help to me in researching all sorts of information I need from incubators to health problems and I finally got around to joining the community.
This year I would like to transition to a pure bred dual purpose flock (Delaware's is what I have my eye on) and keep a flock on the side perhaps of mixed birds.
