Very cute little coop. But just wondering - is your son going to climb *down* that ladder with eggs in his hands? Maybe consider building a little pulley/basket from the deck for lowering eggs so he has his hands free. I remember having one of those for my treehouse as a kid and it was cool.

Your chickens should be fully feathered by 6 weeks. If you put them out sooner, they will likely still need a heat lamp.

I like that - I don't know if I would want it that close to the house due to the poo. Are you going to put something on the cement besides shavings or something? Something that could be changed out now and then?

And as for the poo -- we will be lining the run with a tarp. We plan on using shavings and stay-dry to keep the scent down. Or simply changing quite often. It is a pet project in both senses! We will see -- and report back.
