Urban Setups... looking for ideas and advice!

You have a nice existing space ~ good luck with it. I don't have advice, but hopefully you can get ideas here & there from everyone's photos.
(nice photos everyone!

We used an existing shed and attached an angled "greenhouse end" run onto it. I have photos on my page if you would like to see.

Taken in February of this year. 10' x 10' run completely enclosed in hardware cloth.

I don't have the run space that you do to cover. If I had yours, I'd go with netting since it's considerably less expensive than hardware cloth.

Thank you to everyone who gave their thoughts and ideas along with pictures. There are some really great coops/runs out there. I think we may just build up the fence and create a top so it is fully enclosed. The birds have been hopping on top of our coop and the run and I worry they will fly over the exterior fence. Until then we may just clip their feathers. I appreciate the feedback; everyone was very helpful.

We're (by we i mean my dad) is just finishing up my coop/run. I've got a 1/4 acre back yard- this is on the side portion across from the house- by the shed, along the fence and a tree on the other side- lots of shad for in our hot summers. Eventually this portion of the yard will be fenced off to help keep the dogs away from the chicken run and my veggie garden!

It's based off ofHeather Bullards coop - (she sells plans for it now for $40 btw)

(not quite finished in this pic- still some trim boards to put up)

It's a nice set-up.. personally i'd just cover the top... not only to keep them 'in' but to prevent any neighbourhood cats from crawling in since your surrounded by fencing, which will make access easier.

"Love your setup, Gail. That is one predator-proof run!"

I was glad we put roofs on our three runs. Yesterday about 5 pm Bill heard Domingo (our MF cochin rooster) make a strange call. He went out to find all the chickens had scattered under their coops, into the coops, etc....not a chicken could be seen except our brave boy. He was standing in his run facing down a red tailed hawk that was sitting on our privacy fence not 15 feet from the runs.

I have no doubt that without a cover on top of the run we'd be down some chickens this morning.

We live in the city; however, we have owls, hawks, possums, raccoons...even saw a fox in the neighborhood for the past few years.
