Urgent advice needed, is he going to bite me

He is a year old. I currently have an ad out on CL. I am hoping to rehome him. I am not against eating him, but I would have a hard time doing him in.

My first choice is to find him a home. The ad went out tonight. I have a separate temporary run to put him in for now.

One one and a half hours left, and I will be face to face with the beast.

I know how you feel. We just placed our EE cockerel in a new home. YAY! He wasn't really mean, but not friendly either, and he did bite me on the arm the first time we put him in the garage for the night (because of crowing). I ended up with a lovely purple and green, very deep bruise, but that was the only bite from him, as I gave him a little "aversion therapy."

I know he was just scared, but once any animal shows aggression to humans, well it's not good news.

I'm sure you were just turning a phrase, but whatever you do, don't go "face to face"!! If RuPaul had bit my eye... have to change my name to Blinky!

But seriously, expect him to be much stronger than you'd think. Hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Best wishes!

Good. I grabbed him by the leg and pulled the fellow off the roost real fast. Before he knew it I had him in a head lock and put the towel over him. I don't think the hens even noticed. I carried him in the barn and put him in a chicken run in one of the horse stalls.
He still tried to get me when I fed and watered him this morning.

Thanks for the update. Glad you came away unscathed.

Hope somebody takes him off your hands!

Just a word here. If you re-home him you should be sure you let them know he is an aggressive roo. Not fair to pass on your problem if the other person is unsuspecting.

Glad you got him separated with no blood loss on your part tho.

x2 Yes!

My carefully worded "taking him off your hands" actually includes the idea that someone may process him, but plain speaking is better.

We had a mean roo, at first I didn't want to kill him, but no one in our area needed an aggressive rooster. (I mean, are you really going to breed for that trait?) It was SO much better once he was gone. And I felt a little guilty for part of the afternoon. Then I stood in my run and enjoyed not being attacked or having to fend him off. I'm really new to chickens, but it was much better once he was gone. I wish I'd done it sooner. Don't feel bad if you have to do it.

I can not wait to hear the end of this encounter! Mostly because I may face it one day but also because I can't help laughing! Thank you for the chicken humor, I am growing so attached to my chicklettes.

We just put our roo down today. He flogged my hubby twice and last nights episode left him with some pretty good gashes and then this morning he attacked our daughter she was not injured but really shook up. He came at her from behind, now we just have a young 5 month old roo and he keeps his distance. Now if that changes there will be a bullet with his name on it too. I won't rehome an aggressive animal, that is just not right.
