I'm currently in lockdown with a janoel 24 incubator. I have been following the manual directions. Temperature at 38degrees. I added 200mls of water to tank 1 and 200mls to tank 2 on friday afternoon for lockdown.
Today, we are half way through day 20. Tuesday morning. There have been 3 chicks out of the 5 rocking since day 18. They have been taking breaks but come back and work hard at it.
I had put them in lockdown on 17 due to a very active silkie.

There have been no pips that I can see
I was just wondering if this is normal or should I add some additional water. I'm just very worried I will shrink wrap them.

Very new to this so I would appreciate any help! Thank you.

Does your incubator indicate humidity levels?

I wouldn't worry. As the chicks pip, the humidity level jumps automatically. When they zip it skyrockets. I've seen it jump to as much as 80% when a chick starts to zip. If you have followed the directions you should be fine. They can actually handle pretty low humidity levels without shrinkwrapping.

The incubator doesn't show the humidity levels, just the temperature. I was told this one was quite good and keeping it steady.

I appreciate the advice, The waiting and watching is definitely the hardest part!

What is the humidity reading?

Yes, it is. I do completely dry hatch and have never had a chick shrinkwrap. You'll be fine.
I do a 100% dry hatch also with great results, I wouldn’t dream of doing it any other way.
My worry in this situation would be that not enough was evaporated out of the eggs and the chicks drowned.
Let’s hope that is not what happened.

She's only on day 20, so still early.
