this is my first time incubating eggs, and a couple of them died early on already. one of them hatched (i made the mistake of putting them in at different times) a week ago. she hatched perfectly fine and healthy. this egg made its first hole 2 days early. (26th day) my little sister was impatient and picked at it. my mistake, i shouldn’t have let her near the eggs. then a couple hours later, it cracked the egg more. it seemed to be stuck to the membrane so i pulled a bit of the egg shell off to help, which only made it worse. after trying to pull more, it started to bleed a little bit so i stopped completely. i know what i’ve been doing is wrong, but i need to include it all. i got a Q-tip and wet it with warm water, and dabbed a bit of it on the membrane to keep it moist. i saw so many blood and veins it made me so terrified. i’ll add a photo, please tell me what i should do!!!

Let the egg sit safely in the incubator, while you go read this article:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/guide-to-assisted-hatching-for-all-poultry.72886/

It tells how to help an egg hatch. The most important thing it tells is when to help, and what to do if you helped too soon.

This sentence seems relevant:
"If the chick is making yawning or eating motions, it's still absorbing the yolk. Leave it alone for now. Ducklings especially take a long time to absorb everything. If your duckling is yawning or chewing, let it be, it's not ready."

The article also recommends coconut oil to keep the membrane moist. (But of course you don't want the baby to breathe oil, so be careful where you put it and how much you use.)

THANK YOU!! she was making yawning and chewing motions, so i’ll leave her alone for today.

Unless it’s days late from hatching I would put in back in the incubator and leave it alone. A duckling I hatched didnt hatch until 3 days after pipping and I think that was day 30. She was completely fine. Messing with it unless absolutely necessary could harm it
