I've noticed some yellow stuff on the inside of some of my chickens beak and on the sides of their mouths. I didn't really pay attention to it because I thought it might just be wet food! Is it canker and is it dangerous? Can they die? How do I treat it? I'm very worried and I love my babies! Please tell me what to do!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Can you post a few pictures of the insides of the beaks? Is there a bad odor from the beak? Have you tried to get it off with QTips? Canker is pretty serious in chickens. It can obstruct the airway. It can invade the crop wall, making it difficult to eat, and cause starvation. Metronidazole or Aqua Zole is one of the treatments.

Hello! I just happened to think about that today! 🤣
Yes, I used Metranidazole tablets... I crushed 2 tablets per gallon of water. Hope that helps
Metronidazole tablets arnt very soluble in water. It's better to mix acidified copper sulfate in water and give it to your birds on a monthly basis to keep the protozoa in check because birds with canker are carriers for life and it will spread to other birds via waterers.
Here's where you can buy acidified copper sulfate:

I don't really know as I'm quite new to chickens, but I would have thought that they might be showing some signs of sour crop as well, if it's canker? Do they still have good appetites and seem healthy in other ways?
