So we were not even expecting this egg to hatch until yesterday. Last night there was a pip in the egg. This morning we thought s/he was dead as it seemed as if she had hatched early and had not completely drawn in her yolk and blood veins through her naval. Not only was it not in her, it was not attached to her. She only has a bloody string attached. She is the 3rd out of 3 eggs to hatch and as of now we put the 2 other hatched chicks (they hatched on Tuesday) in a brooder so that they would not pick at her under their mama. I'm reading up on what to do now but would love any assistance. Should I move the 3rd chick to the brooder and put the first 2 under mama? We have found that the premie chicks thrive under mama (the 2nd chick was an assisted hatching due to bacteria on the shell and we did not believe he would make it-- he's peeping and Very much alive! We thought the 3rd was dead but once we found her breathing we want to fo all we can to help her stay that way, even if chances are slim.
