Urgent Help needed! Something attacked my flock. Injured chickens and Guineas need dosage for amoxicillin.

I believe it was Coyotes or dogs. They were in their coop for the night. We have our guardian dogs for extra protection but they were in at the time. They alerted me and that is when we ran out and interrupted the attack. My guardians found all the injured birds that were in different areas of our property (predators mist have dropped when the dogs approached. We live in a very populated area but these predators are brave and smart they knew the minute the girls came in. My husband is putting up electric fence around the coop for extra protection when our guardian dogs cant be out. My heart is sick these birds were also pets.
Thank you for the information
I know the devastation that you feel. Hopefully everyone will recover. Electric fencing is good, I have that, plus aviary netting too. I don’t have LGD’s.

Review the dosages and make sure you are figuring from either pounds or kilograms, whichever dosage you choose.

Coyotes thrive in urban areas; like urban hawks they are smart and observant. They manage to live among us very well. We have to live with them, as hunting cannot change their numbers, they adapt their breeding to compensate.

Again, we all feel your pain :hugs :hugs

How much do your birds weigh? If they are close to 5 pounds you can give 250 mg orallly twice a day for 7-10 days. Many times cleansing the skin with chlorhexidene/Hibiclens, saline, or Vetericyn, and applying antibiotic ointment twice a day will be enough to prevent infection. Many use trail cameras to see what is going on outside their coops at night. I would probably lock them up in a predator proof area, garage, or basement for a few days if possible to make sure this doesn’t happen again. I’m sorry for your loss.

I have cleaned and treated wounds topically but I have a lot of injured birds and am not sure if I found all the wounds on everyone. Birds are obviously traumatized and finding comfort in being together. I can take the more severe inside but they are the Guinea's and become frantic when separated from the flock....hard to know which make sure the wounds don’t get infected, I’ve seen flies lay eggs in wounds before. Are they in the same place they were when first attacked, you want to make sure they’re somewhere safe where they can’t get attacked again. I would continue to treat the birds wounds and monitor, make sure they are all drinking and eating. You could try electrolytes in the water for any lethargic birds or if you have any stress 911 or anything else that would help in the water.

Are you able to monitor and treat the birds outside easily, that’s the important thing. Are they in a different area than before, you want to make sure they’re somewhere safe are safe from another attack.
