Buff Orpington, 1 1/2 yrs old, with pale droopy comb, losing weight fast, slightly Green mostly watery diarrhea, tail feathers drooping, lethargic. Eating and drinking normal but obviously not getting nutrition as she is wasting away to bones. I've treated for worms with copper sulfate just in case, found a few mites and dusted with Sevin, been giving NutriDrench in water for 3 days. She seemed to perk up a little but then quickly got weaker. I suspected coccidiosis so treated with Corid, but no improvement. She does not have a distended abdomen, she is not egg bound (in fact she hasn't laid in a month) she has no respiratory symptoms or discharge. There is no mold in their food, they have free access to oyster shells and crushed eggshells. Water is always clean and fresh daily. I've tried feeding her cooked egg yolk and watermelon to boost her protein. I'm at a loss as to what is wrong with her or how to help her! If you have any ideas or suggestions please help!

I'm sorry to hear that. It sounds like you give your chickens wonderful care.

If it has not passed by now, it is unlikely bacterial or fungal, these usually get better or lead to death more quickly. It is probably something viral, and in these cases it is hard to treat them. I had a hen that was doing very poorly but then suddenly got better, regrew her feathers, started laying again, and regained her weight. There is still hope yet! Keep trying to feed her, keep her warm and hydrated.

I hope she gets better soon!

Thanks. I don't want to have to cull her, but I don't want her to suffer needlessly either. She has been losing weight for a couple weeks now, and her comb has gotten to the point of almost colorless over the past week. Tonight she is very weak, it breaks my heart!
