Hi

Blue is a 3 year old female Japanese quail.

Yesterday I found her laying on her side.
She can move her legs but just falls over.

She is drinking via spoon but not eating.
She is still laying eggs in her condition and is still her normal self. Looking around and talking to us.

Other than spoon feeding her water what can I do to help her recover?

What are you feeding her? She is on the older side for Japanese quail, but not old enough that I'm automatically going to say it's old age.

You might be able to tempt her with some boiled, crushed egg yolk. If you nave some Nutri-Drench, you can mix that with some water and get that into her for some calories as well.

She is on keygate layers pellets with snacks on the side. She turned down sweetcorn which isn't like her

What could the cracking , farting noise be?

I just looked up the nutrition information on two different kinds of keygate (heygate?) layers pellets. The chicken layer pellets comes with a chicken dewormer and the quail breeder/layer pellets do not have enough protein.

I am suspecting that it is long term malnutrition that is causing her issues. If the treats are more than 10% of her diet, that is probably also contributing to a poor diet. Keep in mind that I am not a vet, however.

When was the last time she laid? I'm not sure what the noise could be without hearing it. Can you record it and post to YouTube or something and send a link?

There is no one locally or even reasonable distance for her. I've been calling around but no quail vets. Really frustrating
