URGENT!! i NEED TO CUT ROOSTERS SPURS LOOK WHAT HE DID TO MY HEN! PICS

I went out to the barn this morining to feed the animal and when into the chicken stall and i notice mt EE was just standing in her laying box looking different not as perky so i talked talking to her and she dident move i went over and picked her up i pulled her wing up because the feather look bloody and look what i found......

what do you think i should do with her??? i feeel SO bad......




These are the spurs that did it................my RIR rooster who i thoguth was very nice with the ladies I dont know if it was an accedent but this has happen 2 to her.........a cupple days ago i saw a little cut where the huge wound is now and i out some nesporing on it to heal then......this happend ahhh ..........now how do i cut them....i want to cut them right off!!! hoe do i do it?!??!?!

Grab the spurs with pliers & "un-screw' them. No blood & no spur. I find this method the easiest to de-spur the roo.

Flush with warm sterile saline to clean it. Separate her. Slather her with antibiotic ointment, give extra protein. Cut rooster's spurs.

Twist back and forth. When you do that, there will be a softer inner part that will eventually harden up into an ice pick and you'll have to cut that. I use dremel and cut them blunt; that also cauterizes it.

Yes, hold the leg secure in one hand, pliers in the other & twist back & forth & they will come off & leave a little nub.

Whatever you do, do not use something with benzocaine or lidocaine in it. The "caine" pain relievers can be fatal to birds, especially in an open wound.

will there spurs grow back? and if so how many time should i have to do this ?

Yes, they will grow back, but do this once a year & they will stay fairly small.
