I'm so upset, my cat just came out of the woods with a wild bird. I screamed and she dropped it. The bird jumped up and began to fly away, but clipped the edge of the boat it was flying over, did a front flip and fell. Its alive, but I'm not sure what to do at this point. It looks like it has a badly injured leg, likely broken. The leg is splayed out behind it. I can't really tell what is going on with its wings. It did fly well originally so I have hope there.
Its very stressed and likely in shock. I put it in a shoe box with some straw in my bathroom with the lights off. In the last few minuets its heavy breathing has slowed a bit. I tried to give it some sugar water on its beak but it got pretty stressed.
What should I do? The wildlife rehabilitation center is closed, but it opens tomorrow morning. Do you think there is hope for this bird? Should I do my best for tonight and get it there tomorrow morning?
Thanks for any help.

There might be, but chances can be slim if the cat injured it anywhere. Do the best you can and get it to the wildlife rehabilitation center first thing in the morning. (Better if there's one just for birds.)
Check for any open injuries, especially for any from the cat. Treat anything from the cat first. Cat bites and scratches are very dangerous for birds due to bacteria, so it's very important to treat that as quickly as possible.
Do you know what type of bird it is? Depending on the bird, you might be able to get it to eat some regular bird seed.

It sounds like you're doing a good job already. Just make sure you get it to a wildlife rehabilitation center and keep it safe form the kitty. :)

I agree any bites can be lethal to birds
My cats had a Robin in my house a few months back
We got it away from the cat and I held it to settle it from shock
Once the bird started ti move around lots and even try to fly we put it outside and locked the cat door so he had a fighting chance but he did have a bite in his wing and unfortunately we found him dead a few days later
I didn’t have medication to put on it at the time
My cats have never touched my ducks but they always go for wild birds

Thank you. It just sucks. Darn cats. 😔
I 100% get it
My cats are the same way
I have saved a few birds and a few baby bunnies but many were not so lucky
But I’m also thankful for my cats as they protect my ducks
Last week 2 big dogs were loose and ran into my yard
I have an area fenced off for my dogs and ducks but one part of my yard is higher so it has a cement retaining wall that a dog could easily jump down but my cats were on those big dogs and chased them to the back end of our property
One ran home the other I caught and the owners were just out looking
I own a husky and I know they can get out and be gone fast so I’m not upset
Then a few days later a little buck who often comes to graze and eat apples off the trees got to close to the cement wall. He was curious about the quacking noise
My cat flew across the duck yard and sat up on the cement wall. She hissed and growled till he took a few steps away from the wall then she jumped down all happy with herself
He continued to eat grass and apples in the outer yard
