URGENT!is my ducklings ok!?

You might find more help by posting on the duck forum under “Forums” at the top of this page. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube, Vimeo, Imgur or a similar place with a link posted here. Rapid breathing can be caused by stress or weakness, as well as heart or respiratory issues. Make sure the duckling is taking some sugar water or electrolytes often and eating food. I know little about ducks, so not very helpful.

Thank you! I thought I had posted it there but I’ll post it there. I don’t know if it’s stress as it’s acting normal and sleeping on me as it always does. Do I still do the electrolyte and sugar water if it’s eating and drinking?

so i have a 2 week old apple yard that is breathing rapidly and opening its mouth. It isn’t overheating i don’t think as it’s not under heat and it’s just in the room. but it is like slightly opening its mouth and taking faster breaths than my other duckling. i can sort of hear it breathing whrn i put my ear up to it’s nose. i made sure it me nostrils werent obstructed by anything and they weren’t but still let it in a bath to flush it out. it is eating and drinking like normal but i love it and i’m really worried it will die. if anyone has any suggestions please let me know ASAP! i have a video but it won’t let me upload
Mine have done that when it's to hot. It necessary over heating kinda hot just to hot for them. Try to take the heat away for a bit and see if there's any change. It might be a respiratory infection but I don't wanna jump to conclusions.

They aren’t under any heat at the moment. We use a heating pad in there sleeping cage because we find it safer. So if they are hot they don’t have to be under it which they generally arent because where we live isn’t cold. During the day they are outside in their pen or with me. It was really hot outside today so we only went out a couple of times and I could tell they were hot. But inside they are in the air conditioning and the other seems to be just fine with that. They are sleeping on me at the moment and it seems fine but i can hear it making a noise out of its nostrils. It’s sort of like a popping sound.

How big is their brooder? Do you know the exact temperature it is on the warm and cool side? Ducklings overheat easily so what may seem like an ok temp could be too warm. Also, do they have water deep enough to submerge their entire heads? Ducks need to be able to clean out their eyes and nares so they don't get stuffed up.

Their brooder is about a metre by 30cm as they only really go in there too sleep and eat. I don’t know the exact temperature but our house is usually at around 20c. The heat mat only takes up a small corner of the brooder and they only occasionally go under it after i put them to bed. Often in the mornings they are sitting on top of it. Yes i have a container in their that they always submerge their heads in and i make sure to let them in the bath in water they can also submerge their heads in quite a few times a day

It could possibly be something in its nose or throat as i slept the night at freinds and they didn’t have a bath for like 15 hours as they were with my family. I gave them lots of greens today to help fight a cold if they have one

I'd check around his nostrils and see if there is anything blockage. If the panting persists, I'd get her some antibiotics and hopefully it'll clear up.

Since you are giving treats have you also provided grit to break up their food?
