**URGENT** Orphaned Baby Mouse

Thank you all for the replies! I found the little mouse behind the building I work at. She is still kicking today! Still very active and eating well. She has some trouble keeping her balance. I’m not sure if this is a developmental issue or due to her age. She also is just starting to get fur. Definitely developing slower than your average baby mouse. I will keep everyone updated! Thanks again!

It’s just due to age. All little ones this young are wobbly :) She will make a great pet.

CreekValleyCritters is very experienced with young orphan mice! She helped me raise one myself!
Very clear instructions and advice!
One thing I found VERY helpful is that a small paintbrush works a LOT better than a syringe, or the like. Paintbrush is more natural, and allows them to control how much formula they swallow at a time, so it is not as easy to get into lungs.

Good luck of raising the mouse!

I’d stick with a milk-type formula for mammals. Whole, raw, fresh goat milk; KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer); Esbilac (puppy formula); Enfamil (without iron); or Soyalac human formula.
While goat milk is easy to digest it is not a good food in this case. It isn't nutrient dense enough. Undiluted canned goat milk would work if needed.

I once raised a baby packrat on canned milk. I diluted it very little. At that time KMR wasn't available or if it was, I hadn't heard of it. It sounds like you are doing the right thing. The paintbrush sounds like a great idea. I have also heard of using a small piece of a cotton ball on the end of a matchstick or something and dipping it in milk so the baby can suck the milk off of that.

Today’s update: baby is still doing okay. Eating and very active. I noticed she has teeth now, and according to a forum I read online, that means she’s ten days old at least.. her poo was sort of greenish today which I read could be signs of a bacterial infection :( just bought Pedialyte. Praying that all goes well :fl

Sorry if I don’t reply to some of your questions, even though my profile says five years, I’ve only really been active on a forum for a few days LOL forgive me I’m trying to learn how this works

I love the shiny, smooth tone of new baby fur! It looks like polished silk. The fact that it's coming in is a good sign. Let us know when her eyes start to open. That's probably her next big milestone. Does she have a name, yet?
No name yet. I have been thinking about it, but I’m trying to stay somewhat distant from being too affectionate this soon. (It’s hard). I’m so sensitive and I get attached to animals so quickly. I’m absolutely giving her the best life I can at this point, I just want to wait a while before I name her.

I gave her some pedialyte and it perked her up even more! I think she looks a little more filled out today, what do you guys think?
