My broodies were sitting on a messload of eggs, so I transferred some to the incubator. They are at all different date. Well, I wasn't expecting it and one pipped at some point between last night and this afternoon. The humidity has been around 52%. The chick is still alive. I added a damp washcloth and water right next to the egg. Do you think it's too late and it's guaranteed to be shrinkwrapped? I've helped eggs hatch before, but I prefer not too. I'd rather it not die because of my mistake either.

not necessarily. 52% isn't too bad. My minimum is 55% for hatching.

A showgirl mixed with who knows what hatched. Has five toes but no black skin.
