Urgent! Sick Quail!

One of my quails is acting weird. He wont open his eyes and has so much dirt in it. I think he has some kind of eye infection. He also seems really sick and lethargic. Any ideas! Please help. Before he always had his neck down, maybe that has something to do with this. He also keeps rolling his neck inwards and he can't keep his balance. Any idea of what this is?

Start by gently cleaning him with warm water (maybe use a Q-tip). Separate him from your other birds and make sure he is warm.

Is he eating and drinking? You might try giving him some water mixed with Nutri-Drench with a dropper to give him a bit of energy.

If you can post pictures, that would help.

We cleaned him up but I think the biggest problem is his neck. He keeps rolling his head inwards so we have to be holding him. His neck also seems inflamed a little. He is drinking water but he isnt eating. I might mix some food into his water or some egg yolk.

Are any of your other birds showing any symptoms? That doesn't sound good. Is a vet an option? Pictures?

A vet isnt an option and I can't take a photo either. He seems to be getting better but he still can't hold up his neck.

Keep him separated and warm, then. Watch the rest of your birds carefully for symptoms.

Could he have flushed up and hit his head on the top of his enclosure? What is the roof made of and how high is it?
