We have a fire burning pretty close to us. The smoke smell outside isn't bad right now, but it's blowing our way and it's raining ashes. (The bombers are still flying over)

I hate to lock up the chickens in the coop when it's 101 outside. So how much smoke can they take? At what point do I lock them up?

We had a fire in the pasture next to us last month that burned for probably an hour to an hour and a half right next door before it was under control. Our chickens were out in their run the whole time (because we were fighting the fire) and they were fine.

Thanks! That makes me feel better. I keep going out to check on them, and the smoke smell isn't bad yet. I imagine tonight it might be. It's a ways from us (so I'm not worried about having to leave) but the smoke is blowing our direction.
