URGENT~ SOFT SHELLED EGGS AND A LETHARGIC DUCK!!!

Don't worry, I have already considered the alternatives. I have thought about that a lot today. I am worried that it might be what we have do...

I syringe fed her straight baby food. I held her around her stomach in my lap and the held her neck with every finger except my pointer and my thumb and used those to lightly squeeze her mouth. When she would open it, my dad slowly shot is down. She was very good for it.
She spit almost none of it out. I got about 2 tablespoons down her. I know it's not much but it is a start.

Syringe feeding is great but you have more of a chance of her aspirating which would be a whole new set of problems with her lungs. Also its harder to determine the amount of food she is getting. The local vet should be able to determine if the infection is back. Even though the avian vet can't consult with you she probably could give the local vet more suggestions. Hope everything gets better.

I asked Dr. Tana ( the dr I've been emailing) if she could call the vet in Jackson to discuss symptoms and maybe work out a treatment for the vet here to give her.

You could give my phone number to the vet there, and if they would like, I could talk about their treatment plan or help them come up with one if they would like. Email would be okay too if they prefer.

If you decided to continue with syringe feeding, tell dad to gently dribble the food in and give her a chance to swallow shooting it in can cause it to go down into her lungs.

Syringe feeding is better than nothing, and you're right about the risk of aspiration, this bird doesn't need that!

So you want the vet in Jacksons number (Dr. Whittington)? Or the vet here that has been giving her the antibiotic shots?

Neither, it is inappropriate for me to call them. If they want me to help them, you can pass my phone number along to them. I can give you general information, and could discuss options with them, but it is not legal for me to make a treatment plan for you. I do care that your duck gets the best care possible so I am willing to talk with your vet if they are in need of further ideas. I am so sorry that I can't help more.

So she basically just said that she can't help me. And no one else either. So pretty much I don't have anywhere to go.
