URGENT~ SOFT SHELLED EGGS AND A LETHARGIC DUCK!!!

We actually fed 5 tablespoons but I said 4 because she spit some out.

I called the vet and gave them Dr. Tana's number and emailed Dr. Tana and told her to be expecting the call. I asked them to discuss treatment options.

Do they want you to bring her in to asses her condition?

I don't know yet. No one has contacted me back yet. Maybe they will, I will tell you when I find out.

Well don't wait to long for a call. You may need to call them it's Friday and their probably busy.

I just had a thought and since the vet does cats and dogs they might not know that birds get more Baytril than cats do. The dose for birds should be in their book, but maybe they just gave the cat amount, which is no more than 5mg/kg once a day or 2.5mg/kg twice a day. Birds get 15-20mg/kg and that should be in their veterinary drug handbook, but if it isn't, it's in one of those links I posted.

I mention this because the first avian vet I saw did something similar, she prescribed way too low a dose of metronidazole (5mg/kg instead of 30mg/kg) for my turkey and if I had known what I do now I could have said something and perhaps my turkey would still be alive.

Maybe you could ask them how many milligrams per kilograms they gave her?

I think the went by Dr. W dose but it is possible.

Dr. W gave them the correct dosage for Quackers over the phone. The animal clinic here didn't come up with that themselves.

400

I wish I could sleep like that right now!!!
(That's my cat, Ghosty)

One last thing... You should probably feed her Kaytee Exact Baby Bird Food instead of baby food, it's high in protein (22%) and it has probiotics in it already. Good luck!
