If you want to see something running amok. Come visit. I counted 9 stray dogs in my yard yesterday. Loud barking at night, chasing my cats and pooping in my yard. These all came from NEW neighbors across the road from me. My chickens don't do any of that. My husband has talked with these people 3-4 times.
My brother just picked up the print version of USA Today. The story is on the reverse side of the front page! They even used a different picture on the print version.
What is cool is that USA Today does a single paper for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, so it will be out all weekend!
Oh, and last I checked the article was at the top of the front page of the offbeat section:
"Who wants to be looking at a makeshift chicken coop and hens running around 365 days a year?" asks Longmont resident Stephen Donnellan, a retired insurance claims adjustor. "To me, it's laughable. This idea of having fresh eggs you can go to a nearby farm."
Methinks this guy doesn't know what he's talking about, and BOY, OH BOY, is HE ever in for a shock and a whuppin' from some of these BYCers who have coops better looking than lots of houses I've seen!! He has a very stereotypical view of chicken coops and chickens, obviously. It's also quite plain that he is clueless thinking "this idea of having fresh eggs-- you can go to a nearby farm." -- where would this "nearby farm" be for most people? Except for the backyard type chicken aficionado, how many people in the USA could say they live close to a farm that has fresh eggs available? Most "chicken farms" are commercial producers who raise broiler / meat chickens, not chickens for their eggs.
You go, Nifty! Great article, and such pretty little girls!
