Use fungus Beauvearia bassiana against mites Dermanyssus galinae

@Sequel I tried the traps without the holes and waited one night only. Didn't catch much. I will have the kids make more traps, but I am wondering if there is anything that could be added to the trap to attract these demonic bugs.
I think the traps are a longer term solution. The idea is to get them to lay eggs in the cardboard so that the future generations don’t hatch. I have no idea how long a louse or a mite lives but if you can eliminate the reproduction eventually they die out. He made several videos, one with the little traps in the nest boxes and another where cardboard was wrapped around the end of a roost. Kind of a lot of trouble but worth it if it works.

Well, that won't work because mites lay eggs everywhere (including on the chicken), so even if you eliminate the cardboard, the eggs laid elsewhere will hatch. That's why I was wondering if there is anything that would attract them, this way they will lay eggs only in the cardboard.
Lice/mites live 7 days according to some articles.
One of the best traps I've found are diapers/bed sheets/.

He left them for a week. The holes in the cardboard are what attracts the bugs. Think of it like this: Say you live in a house with a bed made out of boards that you had to climb a ladder to get to every night. One night you come home and someone provided you with a nice new fluffy bed with clean sheets etc. would you climb the ladder to sleep on your boards? Bugs and worms all love cardboard. Those holes are nice dark bedrooms with clean sheets and fluffy pillows. Sort of… :hmm
Also anything that stays on the birds and lays eggs on the birds will have to be treated on the birds as far as I know. I use permethrin dust but honestly I’ve never had a severe outbreak. Yet.

For those interested, here is the strain used in this experiment: Beauveria bassiana isolate IMI 391044, originally isolated from Eurygaster sp. (Hemiptera: Scutelleridae). If anyone is interested, please find attached the whole article.
