Have you got rid of the mites but not the nits they left behind? Our hen was absolutely covered in nits around her bottom. It looked like grape clusters hanging. We were washing her trying to remove these nits when I said to my wife that it reminded me of getting gum out of hair. So my wife said " lets try peanut butter".

It's pretty gross, but rubbing/ massaging peanut butter on the nits starting close to their body and gently rolling ur finger around the nit to the tip of the feathers will remove them in no time. If you got a bunch to remove like we did you might need to break up your sessions just to ease your bird, but peanut butter will give you the results you want!

yea, these nits were stuck to the skin as well as to the shaft. this would be for more extreme cases.
