I used to belong quite a few years ago, but don't remember any of the details for my login info. So I figured I would start over
Anyway, had a flock of 12 ducks at one time, now down to four due to age, and predator attacks in spite of trying to be vigilant.
Anyway, in Maine there is an outbreak of avian flu. A few flocks have been euthanized, one in the county I live in, but not sure how close. They are recommending keeping your flocks inside. That is absolutely not an option for us. We have them in a covered pen, but the small birds could get in the fence. We do let them out now for a little while while we are right there to watch, but that is not going to keep them safe from little birds. I can't keep them locked in their shed all day and night. That is just not fair to them. I am not sure what suggestions other may have that would work for us. I want them to be safe, but they cannot live in a prison with no access to the sun and their pool. I just don't know if we keep doing what we are doing and hope for the best, or what.

We too have had Avian Flu start showing up in some our local waterfowl from what I have read. Hopefully it don't get to out of control before it subsides. Best of luck with your flock.
