me thinks yr gonna have some baby chicks in about a week if you say they been sitting about 2 , hens will share the brood , one of my hens or 3 of my hens and 2 of my ducks were brooding on the same nest lol of duck eggs , any how , the worming meds wont hurt the hatch in any way , they are all fine , if you want to check on how the chicks are doing put a light underneath them you will see the babies or the beginnings of them in the egg, do this in a dark room , or the hen house on my first lot i did it with a [blue peter] weetabix box and cut a hole in the side which an egg could sit in then i slid phone under it with the tourch on , and there we have it a home made instant egg candle lol , now im hatching 30 ducklings indoors and i use my phone as a candle the light on them is bright and daylight so it shows the embryo's wonderfully , it may take longer than a week it depends how far appart the eggs were laid , but it wont be long , keep your ears open youll hear them chirp through the egg , dont frett when they are hatching just watch when they make the first chip in the shell keep a look out if in about 3 mins there isnt a bigger hole just pip it a bit , if you notice in the egg there is a space at the top , this is an air sack or pocket , this provides the air for the chick to breath till it can make an air hole , the yolk of the egg is what feeds the chick it provides all it needs so on hatching or pipping it will have some left which it will use as it hatches , it is attached to the chick via an umbilical cord , yep chicks have em lol the yolk is what the chick eats so to speak , not what grows into the chick , so i hope this helps have a great time with your chicks , the other birds may or maynot pick on the chicks depending if they start to peck at them and the chicks cry the other hens will also peck the chick and more than likely kill it it's best if the hen that is brooding if she is separated now to keep it that way for a while , enjoy digging up worms lol chicks love em mum will teach them to scratch for worms and that but you need to give them chick crum or mush enjoy xxx loads of luck angela or chickenange
