Hey Guys. I am getting together my process for milking my goats and I found the PERFECT sized pot to milk into. Unfortunately it's Teflon coated instead of stainless steel. It's also seamless and has a lid.

Is it ok to milk into a coated pan? I have googled and googled and can't figure it out. Everywhere says use stainless. But this is a food grade pot and i would think that would be the most important.

Thanks!

You can use any sort of container. Stainless is recommended because it's easy to keep clean, won't corrode, and won't add any flavor. As long as your container is clean it shouldn't matter unless you are actively selling milk. Than you gotta follow the guidelines.

Thank you! I have no intentions on selling milk (it's heavily regulated in MD). I'll try tomorrow and make sure the taste isn't affected.

Its mostly plastic containers that can alter taste, and harbor bacteria in scratches and cracks. Stainless steel is always recommended because of standards in the dairy industry. Happy milking. :)
