Using barn lime

I use one of those tubs as a brooder box myself, when I'm incubating. I line it with a cheap towel, replace the towel each day. At the end of the week, the towels all go in the wash. Problem solved.

(Dollar store towels). Just saying. Seriously considering burning the ones from this season.

We use barn lime for our horse shed and that is the first place the chickens will go for a dust bath. They love it. I have, on occasion, sprinkled into the coop for a little extra refresher. Would not use in a brooder. Deep litter method worked for my brooder. Cleaned it every few days. Very minimal stink.

We use a big 40 gallon tote. It makes sense with the towels. Thanks

I'm one size down - 27 gallon. I have to fold the towel on two edges - which helps keep them from getting stuck behind the heat plate.

Oh ok, I definitely know we have the towels we could use. I will be trying that.
