Using bird cage for 1 baby chick?

Has any one tried using a bird cage to put your 1 baby chick in? I was thinking of doing that and putting it in the coop. I will put some wire around it so the big birds wouldn't peck though the slots, and cover the top. What do you think?

Or should I just use the cage and keep her/him inside tell its ready to be outside? I have it in a small box right now.

She/he was born this past Sunday the 8th.

I have the baby in the cage, but I'm not gonna take it to the coop. I hope she likes it better. She/he acts like it. More room for her/him.

I tried to find a friend(s) today, but no one that I went to had any babies. Which, I understand but, hey I tried. I also have the feather duster in there too. (I read that somewhere on here)

Well, I Have had the baby in the cage this week. It's doing fine.
