Using Brinsea for 1st time on Saturday

I've heard that one should throw out the Brinsea Manual!!!!!! Great 'bators but bad manual.
I have mine running anywhere from 99º-100º according to the glass built-in.
I also have read in numerous places that you don't really need to be too concerned unless you start running above 102º. Less dangerous if you run lower, but hatches may come late. Also, I am running humidity now at @35%. Dry basement with both troughs filled - nothing else. Brinsea says 40%-50%.
I plan on raising to 55%-60% for lockdown.

Can you call a few pieces of paper stapled together a manual?

Yeah, I was a little disappointed w/ that part. Thankful for BYC and my hatching pro neighbor.

Yeah, right? - piece of junk manual for such a nice device. Not very professional.

I am not sure if you are planning on a staggered hatch on your first time around, but I would advise against it. I have read from much more experienced hatchers that staggered hatches are a pain if you don't have a second incubator to put the eggs in for lockdown and hatching. Fertile eggs can be stored for two weeks (from what I have read) before their viability starts decreasing. If you can store your other eggs (I think you said you have more?) in a cool place (like around 50 degrees) with the large ends up, I would wait to set them. I found that the factory setting on my Brinsea was a little low at the top of the eggs so I have adjusted it and now I just leave it alone. Most people have their humidity around 40% until lockdown. For lockdown I have read so many different opionions on humidity that I am just trying to feel it out. I set mine between 60 and 65% last time. I think I am going to go between 65 and 70% this time just to see if it makes a difference since I had to help one out that got stuck last time.

I sent suggestions to Brinsea for manual revision on the Mini Advance, and they are going to include the changes in their next rewrite.
If there are manual revisions that need to be included for the Eco, send them in to them. They are also very helpful on the Brinsea Facebook page if you have questions.

I had this problem yesterday, and I used warm water and a tube through the vent hole so I didn't have it open at all either. Whereas it popped to the correct temp quickly when I started it up the first day and again, within 2hrs, of adding the eggs, refilling a trough kept it low for a whole day. It's making me nervous about adding water again....BTW I hate how difficult it is to see when the trough is low without removing eggs.

If your temperature is 100 degrees or a little under that before you put the eggs in, great. Once you put the eggs in the bator which is already set to a good temp, you dont adjust until atleast 24 hours. The temperature will jump while the eggs absorb the heat. You havent lost all 25! Dont worry. Dont be TOO paranoid about the temp. lol I was at first too.

Oh and once I have the brinsea adjusted to the right temperature, I dont touch or check the temp from that point on. I already know that the temp is correct and the brinsea needs time to adjust with the eggs. You can go mad trying to get the perfect temp.
