using chick starter as cat litter?????

Well, seeing as feed gets moldy when wet, I don't know that it would be safe, never mind a good waste of chick feed that could be used to raise up more chicks.
But it is interesting!
 
I have to keep a little bit of chick starter on the floor of my blind pullet's house to make sure she eats well. She goes by touch, duh she can't see. I've noticed when she poops in the food it clumps up around the poop and I can easily clean it up. Maybe that's why.

Not for the kind that clumps up.
But I'd hate to have my cats strolling into the coop to poop during free-range time!!!

I think it's a waste of good chick feed! Unless you were really diligent about cleaning it up, I'd worry about mold in the pieces of starter that break away from the main chuck of formed urine balls. Some cat litter is expensive.... but... for my hamster's litter boxes, I get cat litter on sale for about 3 bucks a 30 lb bag! Granted it's on sale and I get cheap litter...
