Can this be used instead of using dewormers in chickens? Does it rid the chick of all worms? If anyone has used this please let me know no matter if you had good/bad results I am really curious about its uses!

This is for external use only... will help with mites and flea... helpful with some bugs in the garden. They should not ingest this. As for worm protection... get a dewormer for poultry or try a mixed mash of pumpkin seeds and guts mixed with buttermilk... and that is a preventative only.

The food grade DE is fine to ingest, and it should get rid of worms, or keep them away.
some folks will put it in with the feed to keep bugs out of that - and then the chickens will injest some that way.

I've even given some to my horse and goat

My layer pellets contain 5% food-grade DE by weight, so the birds process a lot.
No worms.

But I think it's a preventive, I would not hesitate to use a wormer if I saw some.

I was able to start on new ground with this flock and I think the DE has played a significant role in preventing all kinds of parasites.

Food grade DE is such a great all around product to have in the coop. It will help prevent any infestation of mites and parasites, good preventitive worming agent but not as a medication for a severe infestation of worms already in the gut. It is great for keeping the Fly's down and works wonders on controling smells in the coop. It is very economical to use as it is pretty inexpensive for a 50# bag that does so much. I know my flock is healthier from it.

I'm very happy to have finally acquired some locally. $22 for 50lbs. I dusted the coop floor, nesting boxes and run with it. I then gave each bird a light dusting on the back as well.

Tomorrow I will mix some into their feed.

I've read the humans can ingest DE (food grade) and it helps with hair and nail growth... maybe I should try it..

) that is a great price. I think I paid $37 for 10 lbs plus shipping.. and I need to order more.

Yes, DE is great and has worked well on the chickens for me, but I did have some problems finding it close. When I found it I did get the 50lbs. so I am hoping it will last for a while. I did also hear that humans can consume it for their own worms, which many people have and don't know. I haven't tried it, but I did on my dogs.

I use DE in all my nest Pigeon,Dove,Chicken i put it under the hay i put in for nesting keeps down the mites.
I also put it in my outdoor dogs house with cedar shaving helps with the fleas

Good for dusting the coops too no chance of poisoning your chickens
