using egg cartons in bator?

Quote:
I have done two batches this way - it is better to use the cardboard type ones, rather than the plastic type ones, so I've been told.

Also, instead of tilting the egg cartons, I tilt the entire incubator, so I don't have to open the lid as much.

good luck -

i did that once, but they told me it shouldn't be done if it is a still air.if you have a fan it would work great. because it is hotter higher up.
this is what mine looked like.

You could still do it, just make sure you get the temp from the top of the eggs.

How many eggs do you have in the bator ??

I find it just as easy to turn the eggs by hand and think it looks easier for a chick to hatch out when its on it's side, JMO... We all have the way that works for us !!

Right now 7 large eggs set with more arriving today to set tonight . 29 eggs in all. I want all hatching done within 5 days so I will need only 1 big brooder.
Maybe I'll use the cartons till the 18th day for each set....remove them and then switch them out to my hatching bator on their sides.
Darn mail is throwing off my deliveries and plans.:<))
