There are four different breeds in there and I'd like to keep them separate. I've read about people using little containers to separate eggs for hatching to keep the chicks together. Does this work in a still air? If so, what type of container is recommended? Are there any risks or downsides to this approach?
Thanks!

LOL... I don't want to sound like I'm making fun, but you must not have heard of chicken soccer.. Those chicks will be all over the place in that incubator... I tried in my brinsea once to use the egg holders as dividers.. Below is how well that worked, and that was on a chick that had freshly hatched. After being in there for about an hour fluffing up, it was nothing more than a hurdle, that they could easly jump.

Yes, this is our first time hatching! I was kind of wondering if they would really stay in some little box! I am not surprised by your results.

Knowing that it will probably be a futile effort, I'm not going to bother. We'll sort them all out somehow. (if they indeed hatch

To keep breeds separate in the incubator some people make small wire cages to isolate eggs and the chicks hatch in that side/group of the incubator. The Brinsea thread for the March hatch had a good picture of what one person made from what looked like the hardware cloth.
