Using metal for DIY egg tray

I am considering using a metal refrigerator grated shelf as the tray that I can use for the automatic egg turner. The eggs fit perfectly and I think they will rotate fine, but I was wondering if the metal would create hotspots on the eggs? All of the DIY projects that I have seen use either wood or plastic. Thanks so much for your help.

I think you're right the conductivity of metal would create hot spots. Think about the hen, there's nothing on her that conducts heat, only radiates. I would avoid using the metal shelf.
