Using pedialyte for chicks

I've got chicks coming tomorrow (hopefully!) and I'm wondering since I don't have the electrolyte powder to add to their water if I can use pedialyte and how much to use? Add some to the water or just give them some straight pedialyte?

A lot of people also just use sugar water. My only concern with pedialyte would be salt content. I haven't used it in a while so I can't remember how high it is. I'm sure someone on here can say if it is safe for sure.

i use plain ole water.right outta the tap.just remember one thing. their only chickens.

I just used good ol' well water from our tap...nothing more...and they are as healthy as can be...

These chicks will probably be distressed. They were hatched Friday but she was afraid to send them and get them caught in the PO over the weekend so she waited and mailed them today. The guy at the PO is going to check on them in the morning and see where they are. If they come into Birmingham, he'll stop them there so I can pick them up. That will save a lot of hours in the mail truck before getting to my local PO. I just hope they come in tomorrow and not Wednesday.

I'm bumping this because I was going to ask roughly the same question -- what can I use for a chick electrolyte? If I make sugar water, how much sugar should I use?

I'm supposed to be getting my chicks tomorrow -- getting a bit nervous.

I used vitamin water with my last batch of chicks because I had one with wry neck and it worked great and the chicks loved it. It only cost me .99 for a bottle of it. I mixed it 1/2 and 1/2.
