Using Sweeter Heater for brooding in coop

Well..the chicks survived the night just fine, and are doing the normal chick things today. The older two girls are continuing to loudly protest their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. No love from them for the new littles yet......

Heater working out OK now?
Yes, it seems to be working fine. I adjust it one last time around 11pm. I keep it at an angle..about 7" on the left end, 4-5" on the right. That way, they can, and do start the night on the higher side. By morning, they are over on the right side, which is a lot warmer. Our temps are getting down to around 38-40 at night, and days are in the 50s. Though today it has been 65.

Everyone is happy. There was a little pecking from the first four to the incoming Barred Rocks, but everyone seems to be getting along great. Two of the Rocks are running around like crazy with the other four, and the other two Rocks are still in the stressed stage. They interact, but want to sleep under the heater a lot more. One I'm keeping an eye on, as she keeps peeping loudly, but I don't know why. She seems to just want to be held. If I do that, she quiets right down and just goes to sleep in my hand.

Maybe she's a bit distressed at the big red light missing from this brooder. I remember when I took the red heat lamp away from my first flock a few years ago, and they were crying so loudly about it. Anyway, I'm checking in on her. She is eating and drinking though.

Check her for pasty butt?
She might just not be used to the 'dark' heat....
...just keep 'shoving' her under.

She knows where it's warm, and goes there on her own. I have been checking all of them for pasty butt, but no issues with that on anyone.

I have two! One to see them under the heater, and to view the whole brooder. It looks like I have a light on, but it’s just the infrared from a third camera (not Wyze) I have on the big girl side of the coop.

I have been brooding my chicks in the coop. I have 8. Last night, they slept in a pile on the other side of their brooder, nowhere near their sweeter heater. It got down to 58 last night. They are on week 5. So today, I removed the heater as nights are supposed to be in the low 60s. Seems as if they are doing just fine. They did seem to feather more quickly being out in the coop this whole time.
