Utah!

here is a cool link i ran across that talks about adding herbs to nesting boxes to help with stress, bug issues and more http://www.grit.com/fresh-eggs-daily/nesting-box-herbs-chicken-aromatherapy.aspx yeah lisa i kept my bunny in with my girls for a long time, they had the same reaction but soon fit into the pecking order. be careful about them being males, you know how they like to breed.... mine is a girl and a large girl too. i took her out because she would dig out and nearly got hurt a few times. but i keep her and her little bunny friend near the chickens, chickens are great at cleaning up after rabbits and rabbit poop attracts the worms too. my rabbits love chicken scratch and the chickens love rabbit food. some will say chickens and rabbits can share diseases but from what i have read that is rare. what breeds of rabbits do you have?

Birdman, I am totally going to read that link later! I love aromatherapy. For now, it's nap time.

Lisa, your SG sounds kind of like my RIR. And I have birds all over me all the time. It's a miracle I have only been pooped on twice. They just fly up onto my shoulders, my back, my lap, arms, or if I'm not careful, my head.

Here are some photos of my flock from today :)

Henry, Peaber, and Lacy:

Lacy, the notaGLW:

Ophelia:

Ruby and Nox, the Psycho Sisters:

Pearl and Opal, the babies and Easter Eggers (they are my favorites):

The bigger girls and Henry are 18.5-20 weeks old (some were a lot more feathered than others when we got them). The Psycho sisters are 13 weeks and the babies are 11. So there is my flock. I am having some difficulty with the website, so I will hold off on pictures of their home.

Nice flock, I love your EE's. hmmm, wonder if Lacy has some New Hampshire in her? She sure is pretty what ever she is. Nice mix.

The pullet that is running looks like she has some wheaten in her. Looks like mine. Only mine has some blue feathering, slate legs.

Yes, you should be getting some eggs soon. I wonder if they are laying somewhere and you don't know it yet..or can't find them yet..like Red went through. ?

Thanks for the pictures! Always fun to see others chickens. Only it makes it hard now to stop myself thinking, I need some EE's with color in them like that!

Pearl, the running EE, has always been hard to photograph true to color. She was a green chick, but looks white in the pics I took of her (that's her in my avatar). Her beard is a light grey and she has blue feathers on top of her head. She is also splash, meaning she has random blue/black feathers throughout her body. For example, one of her flight feathers is black and the patterning on her back has an occasional half blue half orange feather. I really wish I was a better photographer some times...

Lilwanis, your chickens are so pretty! I love the blue ee.

I love the idea of aromatherapy in the nesting boxes. I'm definitely going to be studying that out soon.

Curiouser and curiouser. I went out to check for eggs again, and found another blue egg. That means in the last 23 hours, I've gotten 4 blue eggs and 2 brown eggs. In that coop, there are a total of 6 chickens. One is a rooster. Then there's a lavender ameraucana, legbar, glw, blrw and rir. I don't think the blrw is laying. Now, I will say that yesterday, I only got one egg. But still, I'm really baffled.

Here are the first pictures of my new coop. I am going to call it Cluckingham Palace. We have been working on it and now we just need to put the roof on, shingle it and put the doors on. I still need to find some windows and Ed needs to make nesting boxes and a roost. It is coming along nicely

You have a neighbors chicken sneaking into your next boxes, then going home??

Oh my goodness! That is huge. I can see the chickens in the rafters now. Are you going to use some of that higher space..for storage? You will love being able to walk into your coop. That little pink one..ha, I remember the pink paint on one of your chicks. :) It is cute, you should be able to sell it pretty quick. Thanks for the pictures..keep posting as it comes along. What color are you thinking for the big one?
