Utah!

Sundance, that definitely looks like a young BCM to me the copper coming in towards the tail is a dead giveaway that he's a boy. I think he'll be a good looking boy, too. The gray looks like a blue copper marans mix to me. So weird that they just popped into your yard.

Welcome, Mimi!

Madchicken, i'm so sorry about Walnut. Sometimes they do just die. Your new rooster looks like he'll be awfully cute.

Aravis, congrats on getting your license!

That's so sad to hear about all those feral cats.

Today, I got a blue egg that looks like my lavender ameraucana's work. But, it had some blood on it, like a pullet egg. I've never seen blood on an egg that wasn't from a brand new layer. Trying to decide if I should fret about it or not.

Michelle---I will gladly bring you wheat from IFA for a trade when I come to get more babies :: Just let me know if you still need some. We have 2 IFA's in Logan.

Cute silkie madchicken! Hope it helps you feel a little better.

Cynthia, good to know the new stuff is faster....mine is slow too, it is pretty old, but I think I will at least try to use it up. I will try some of my new stuff too though for fun now that you mentioned it!

Yay aravis! Glad you are an official keeper of chickens :D

For sure, I'm always open to trades. :)

Only the BCM sudden;y appeared. The other two are home grown. Do you know anyone who wants some roosters?

Ok so a little bit ago i thought my bantan EE was laying but the egg was really light in color. its not her! its one of our silkies (apricot). I caught her in the nest box today. So there is still a chance of a little blur/green egg.

Sphinx, I wouldn't worry too much right now. I have seen the occasional blood streaking on a fully mature hen's egg. Sometimes it just happens. it it continues to happen, though, you may want to keep a close eye on her incase of prolapse or something. Worst case scenario there.

Madchicken, how exciting! I'm rooting for a blue egg for you

Today has been an awesome day for me. I really was able to get a lot done. I went to the IFA in Riverton and got a bag each of wheat and oats. Thanks again for the tip, Brad! After that, I stopped at a pumpkin patch and asked the owners if I could take some of the split pumpkins for my chickens. They told me to take whatever I wanted, so I loaded up the back of my little truck and hauled a bunch of pumpkins home

I am so excited to have so much feed stocked up for the birdies. I took the plastic garbage can that I was keeping some of the feed in and cleaned it out, since it had gotten water in there and mold was starting to grow. Found a hole in the bottom and patched it with duct tape, then dumped the new grains and all of the remaining feed in and stirred it up. No more mouse problems, no siree

I'm so excited to finally have that done. The two white turkeys had to supervise while I was working on all of that - never mind that they couldn't see me or what I was doing in the dark, hehe. Funny girls. They kept making curious little cheeps and wandering around underfoot, then trying to stick their heads in the bags to see what in the world was so important.

Good job Red! Don't ya love productive days like that? You are inspiring me. I really really need to get out back and put patio furniture away for winter and get my DH to help cover some things for winter....get the shovels out....put the mower up....maybe tomorrow will be my day to do it. Did you see the storm coming next weekend? Cold again.

I did get the coop cleaned out today not scrubbed down but pretty cleaned out and new shavings. This is one of my favorite things. The coop with new fluffy shavings and my girls come in and walk around in them, it feels sooo good. I wish it would stay that way....that was about all I really accomplished, and laundry....my DH came home with tickets to the USU football game so I spent a chunk of the day doing that.;)
It was fun but now I feel behind. I have so much to do to be ready for winter still.

Sphinx, I have had the occasional streaks too. Lots of times with the double yolkers...and a couple times just out of the blue. My BR has done it randomly but it is weeks in between so I have not worried about it too much. I hope it is ok. She seems fine otherwise.

I also went to IFA It would have been fun to see each other. I bought barley and wheat. Am going to sprout them tomorrow. still puzzled by who roostered me.

My Polish are gone :( Someone came and got them. They were such cute little twirps... but i am a little releived because I'm quite certain they were roosters. I'll miss them.

You will have fun sprouting. Mine are taking off with the new wheat!

And, I promise, it wasn't me that roostered you.
