Utah!

Just watch a falcon try to get of my Silkies! Luckly they was under a Large crab apple bush and the falcon couldnt move very fast on his feet. Falcons are migratory birds aint they? Think i will lock up the bantams in their small run for a few weeks. I hope it wont go after a large hen. Most my hens are dual purpose so they are much larger then the falcon.
Found an article on that question....here is part of it..
Do peregrine falcons migrate?
Yes and no. Some falcons do migrate and some do not. Peregrines in the more northern climates (Alaska and Greenland) are more likely to migrate during the winter to places that have a milder climate, such as the southern United States, Central and South America. There are some falcons in the Midwest that do not migrate because the winters are not too severe and the food source or prey base remains a

I have a 55 gallon drum out in the run full of old wheat. My birds love it. I get all my wheat off of ksl free adds. I just wish someone would give old corn away, now that would be a bonus.

some falcons winter here in Utah

My next layers..my wheaten is getting close! My blue EE is bigger, but not at red..the EE mix (the white) is next to being real red with the Wheaten.

She's a pretty girl..fluffy butt and all.

My blue EE..that is a red sex link that will probably be laying by next month.

She's a big girl, and will probably get a little bigger. I am hoping for the possibility of an
olive egg. :))

My white EE leghorn mix. She has gotten speckles all the way down her back.

Oh my gosh, you guys, I am so stinkin' excited! I found a nest hidden in our rosebush! I'm pretty sure it's my oldest Icelandic pullet, Flekka. I have seen her hanging around that bush lately and have been checking it for eggs. She's good at hiding them. I found four beautiful, creamy little eggs just a minute ago!

I remember you talking about checking that bush out. Is this one that you had before you got mine..it isn't the one I had is it? I called tiny tot.
Congrats on your eggs. Creamy colored, fun!

Thanks, Cynthia! Yes, this is Tiny Tot that I got from you. The one that was all yellow with a little hairdo. She still has that hairdo. I'm waiting to see if Jed is going to come over so I can show him the nest, but I'm having a hard time waiting to go collect those eggs.

Edit: Oh, I love your girls! I had to look closely to make sure that wasn't my EE/Leghorn in the picture.

Madchicken, I wouldn't put it past a falcon to try and nab one of your chickens. They are smart birds, for sure.

I just entered the hug your chicken day photo contest...go enter..I think Lisa and Wendy are on that site..The Chicken Chick...

I brought her in for DH to take some pictures..she was so calm, and she just kept
clucking at me, like, ok, what is going on here..I think I like the snuggles. These Silkies are
soo sweet, and don't mind being held..at least not the ones I have. Working on my
little Frizzle. She's still young, but I know she will come around. This is my Cotton.
