Utah!

I got them from Silkie Sue...Iowa. Crossing fingers! I sure hope I do not lose them all. She has a paint Silkie Roo over a pen full of showgirls, paint, white, black...all with full bow ties. So I really hope to get something fun. They ship Monday the 26th....So hopefully they will get here safe and we can expect something to hatch the weekend before Christmas...Hopefully! I am scared I will lose them all.

Iowa was also one of my favorite places! Good for you. Yes, what you will be doing is crossing your fingers for the ones that hatch to be showgirls. And, if one doesn't make it, you may not want to open it, because man, when you do, and you see you had a showgirl, it really ticks you off! lol.. But, you just may do better than I did there for a while. I did really well for a while, then I kept having not so good hatches. ?

Ok, did some photo shots today.

Swedish Flower that I thought was a boy when hatched, but now looks to be a girl.

My other Swedish Flower hen..thought it was a girl when hatched..now I wonder. :/
Are those saddle feathers? I know that I've seen pics of hens with very large combs
and wattles, but, these are turning pink, pink already.

See, this one has less comb and wattle, and not as red. Going to be very pretty.

My A., leghorn mix. She will squat when I catch her.

Look at this little sweetheart. I haven't tried to catch her yet to see if she will squat,
but she is getting red. The NN is big! She's so young still.

Check out that beak, too cute. She's getting red! I can't wait to see her egg color!

Lisa, here is a picture of my non NN..and of course my NN up front. You can see why I
think girl.

Ok, this little sweetheart, has made me change my mind on what is my favorite bantam
breed. This is Sweet Pea. She is a favorelle. I can't say when the last time I had a
bird be so docile, friendly, wanting to be near me when I go into the pen. Even before
treats. She just stands there and lets me pet her. What a sweet bird! I love the different
coloring on her.

She is so curious, she will stretch that neck way up when you are standing up, just to
try and get a better look at you. She's stretching a bit here, but Scott just laughs at
how she stretches her neck out to look up at you when you go in with her. She just stands
there, and stares up at you.

Puffy cheeks, and feathered legs. Just half feathered, like a marans, but she has a lot.

I won eggs from a hatch a long last spring, and got them from Ariele. She didn't get them
off right away, because they were supposed to be all Marans, but they weren't laying well
at the time, so I settled for some of the marans and the EE's. This girl will squat when I
catch her, and she is turning red. :) Very pretty bird.

I have Black Spanish, Narragansett and Penciled Palms.. Will be selling eggs and poults.. I'm planning on putting lights in next month so hopefully they will start laying in February (instead of April)..
I think there are a lot of city people who would be interested in a de-crowed rooster if the vet figures it out and it isn't too expensive...
hey birdguy what breed would be a good one if i am wanting them to reproduce on their own and hatch out a bunch of turkeys each year? and on average how many would you guess a hen would hatch out in a year?

I haven't said before but I had 6 show girl eggs a bit ago. Hatched 2 of them. Both white very pretty. One is larger than the other. Waiting for a crow.

I like the white. The splash are real pretty too.

Soo waiting to hear about that vets report on decrowing the roos.

Cynthia, KYTinpusher has a log of photos of her SFH that she took at different ages, your brown one looks like a pullet, but the other one, hmmm.... Makes me SOOOO excited for mine in the spring!!

The Budapest tumblers look like cartoon birds. They are kinda freaking me out. LOL. I love the trumpeters.

I was thinking the same thing! They are cute, though. I wonder if those big eyes help them to see really well?

I know I'm not Birdguy, but I thought I'd read that some of the heritage breeds like the Narragansett make good mothers. Shawn, feel free to correct me on that one.

Sundance, I saw your babies in the garage. Soooo cute. Although I hate to say it, I think your red frizzle is looking boyish

Cynthia, thanks for putting up the pics! I love seeing everyone's birds

Your girlies are so cute. That blue SFH is giving me a "boy" vibe, but I can't see any pointy saddle feathers yet. Maybe it's too young for those?

On a side note, I got to visit Sundance tonight. One of her chickens is a little RIR that is so sweet, she lets anyone pick her up. I was holding her for a minute, and when I set her down, she started picking politely at my shoelaces to tell me that I wasn't done yet. It made me laugh.

The long narrow windows on the front do not open, but I have several on the sides that do, I want to put all of the pictures of the coop on the coops site but can't figure out how. Anyone know?
