Ann- I read somewhere that somebody put a drop of food coloring on their chicken's vent and the egg got the coloring on it when she laid...kind of weird but it worked. Glad the roo is working out, his sister here is amazingly sweet too. Have not seen you around forever! Glad you checked in!
My Miss Piggy has taught my other girls a naughty thing, it's the hanging out at the window and begging thing. She will get right up on the metal part of the bottom of the door way, and click away with those nails. Works often enough for her to keep it up. I can't resist when she begs.. I throw out BOSS most of the time. When she's ready for some BOSS, there she is. Now, there they are. Pretty girls.
Wheaten Am. far left, Blue EE, red sexlink, Miss Piggy the leghorn, and Maggie, the
NH. Echo was there, the white EE..she has gotten so pretty, she has more speckles
on her now. And her tail, oh my, it flares out so pretty.
Lisa, my chickens are all doing an excellent imitation of drowned rats. I don't know why they're insisting on being outside when the weather is so wet. My poor polish chickens look the most bedraggled, that's for sure.
Cynthia, that boy is looking gorgeous. He's the sizzle you got from Sundance, right? I wish mine had made it.
GaryDean, I'm just going to go ahead and pretend that I didn't see your post about the legbars because I really really don't want chicks in the house this winter.
Welcome, An-nyoung. I need more roosters like I need a hole in the head. Sorry!
Hattie, good luck with your hatch. I hope all of your little polish hatch.
Sundance, I'm glad Warren survived the surgery. I can't wait to hear if it worked or not. He seemed to really crow a lot for me, so hopefully tomorrow you'll have an idea. Yay science!
Update on the decrow. The boy was ok this morning. Eating and drinking fine. No sign of crowing or even trying. Not sure if its the surgery or pain meds as he has enough pain meds on board to make him comfortable, He was given a load of antibiotics to prevent infection, We'll see how he does as the pain meds are backed off but so far so good

Moriah, I'm glad that the roo Lisa brought you is being so well-behaved. There is something to be said for a boy that minds his boundaries.
So, I really like my new job. I work in the auditing department, which isn't so bad yet. Today was only day two, so there's plenty of time for things to get hairy, hehe. I do a lot of tedious checking on document right now, which I kind of enjoy. Except yesterday I forgot to put on deodorant
Good thing I carry some backup in my bag!
Whittni!! The chicken hat came today. It is soooo cute! I was giggling while I opened it, then grabbed my camera and dashed out back to grab a victim model to try it on. It ended up being Trixie, my mom's BSL. She was not amused, and she let me know it. She's such a good girl. I'll probably get a peanut M&M egg from her tomorrow
After she tried it on, I grabbed my Exchequer and had her model it. She kept moving, so I didn't get a great picture of her, but she was a good girl, too. I'm developing the picture of Trixie in her hat and putting it on my desk at work
