Utah!

You guys have been chatty on here. Everyone's getting hit with this crazy cold weather. I was kind of surprised at the temps yesterday morning. When I went to IFA tonight to get some more feed for our birds, my mom got a heat lamp to put out in the run. We still need to get a hook installed to hang it from, but I think everyone in the preserve will be pretty happy to have the added warmth. Now I just need to talk myself out of my paranoia that the extreme cold will shatter the bulb while it's on..............

I am so fried right now. Work has been busy, but great. I think my body's trying to get over something, too. I am having a hard time focusing and haven't been feeling too well for a little while. Been drinking water like a fish, too. Cynthia, I hope you get feeling better soon, and the same goes to anyone else who's sick right now. It's the pits.

Cute babies! And Hector, I hope you find a good home for your boy. He's sure pretty. Lisa, I think you need an Icelandic roo to keep an eye on your girls

Wouldn't you agree, Shawn? Mine are very good about minding their ladies - although I'm gonna flog the one if he keep breaking the feathers on my BO's saddle area. Dang little neanderthal. It's a good thing he's a gentleman and gives her all the food she wants when they're together!

Awwww, what was I going to say? Come on, brain. I still neeeed yoooouuuu!!

I hope everyone is doing alright, other than dodging the gumboo that's going around.

Oh, someone mentioned using eggs that had frozen. I have used mine for hard boiled eggs if I know they're less than a day old. Anything beyond that, I don't like to take chances. I just cook them up and serve them back to the ladies, if they don't seem spoiled. I figure that the fresh ones are fine, though. I've dropped a few eggs into the pot too hard before and had them crack while boiling, and they're still fine. It really doesn't seem too much different from being frozen.

Sundance, I LOOOOOVE the idea of volunteering with the refuge! I may have to call them up and get on their list. How is your owl doing? I'm so sorry about the cat bite. I hope it doesn't turn into anything serious. Kind of funny that Warren is still crowing like crazy. I swear my roosters are being really quiet with all of the cold.

Chiko, that rooster looks sweet. I hope you can find a good home for him.

Lisa, is your polish not doing well because of the frozen crest, or is there something else bothering her?

I went out to the coop just now. Its pretty funny in there. The water is frozen on one side and not the other there was some frost on the walls and I have two heat lamps in there. I also have lights in the smaller coops that are inside the bigger coop
Sphynx the owl is doing ok. They aren;t sure if the wing will heal well enough to release it. Needs more time.
Dr said my arm is badly infected. I have the red line starting up my arm. They gave me 2 shots in the a__ it hurt hurt and put me on pills. I'm taking the bad kitty down to my vet friend tomorrow. She can deal with him until I get better. My immune system sucks so who know if I can get better on my own,

I tend to think it is the cold and frozen/wet head...she was actually trembling when I picked her up tonight to bring her in to dry her, I am keeping her in the kennel overnight in the house. I just think she needs a break from the cold. I have been feeding them the Fermented feed for about a month, and they love it and are doing really good on it, but the Polish have a hard time eating it without getting their heads all wet, she is just all crunchy from the frozen wet stuff, she is like a popsicle!
I just don't want her to be shocked from the warm house back to the cold coop...I think if I just get her through the one night she might be ok. Poor girl. This one is my GL, Elvis, she was picked on a few weeks ago, and had something bothering her a month or two ago (remember the weird sounds), she is one I have to watch pretty close.

Red, stop the suggestive subliminal rooster enabling....lol I don't need any egging on, I am doing it to myself bad enough

Shawn i meant to say how funny your Bond chickie pic was, it cracked me up!
