Utah!

Hi guys!!

Such cute chicks Cynthia and Bluejems!! and on my goodness that baby goat is too much!! I want to hug it to death!!

Lisa.... you NEED a rooster, you WANT a rooster, you MUST have a rooster!! lol

Well... so far I have a 1/48 hatch rate, ugh...... had one die in the shell yesterday and one that hatched pretty quickly, a clean hatch, but had terrible cross beak and was missing an eye... it was an OE... culled it today I actually have been seriously depressed today... Part of me doesn't want to do it again.. the other part of me says, "you are NOT a quitter!" either way.. pretty much this is how I feel tonite.

I am so sorry about you hatch. I went thru that last year. Nothing I set would hatch for some reason then finally things started working for me, Can we vote twice?

Had to put my favorite girl down this morning. Miss Piggy. I have been watching her the last few days, knowing in the back of my mind what I needed to do. I went in the coop last night to put her up on the roost because she can't jump up, and I thought I would start doing that again, because it is closer to the heat lamp. When I picked her up I couldn't believe what I was feeling! I brought her in, and that breast bone was waay out there, and red. No meat on her there what so ever. She is usually the first one to go for the food. Not lately. First one to come out in the mornings, and stay out, not lately. She would just stand there, on one foot, in her little nest box she likes. There was an egg from her today. Frozen solid..must have laid it later in the evening, or first thing this morning. It was soo thin. You could see the shell was barely covering the inside. Well, no more suffering for Miss Piggy. DH and I are the sad. DH really liked her too.

She looks so good here. Glad I got this cute picture of her.
She would click her nails on the metal bar at the bottom of the
door, and knew I would come out with some BOSS for her.

i am so sorry for your loss :( i will miss hearing about her. some leghorns can be crazy but others are just about as special as they can be. will miss her. ((((hugs))))

Cynthia, I am so sorry for the loss of Miss Piggy. I am glad she's not suffering anymore

Delarooshens, I'm sorry to hear your hatch has been so bad. I think you did the right thing, culling that chick. It's a tough thing, but for the best. I hope you get some more hatching soon!

Sundancenbare, I'm so worried about you and your scratch. It sounds like you need heavier antibiotics- those don't seem to be working. Get better soon!

Lisa, how is Elvis today?

Soo sorry but you did the best thing for her. Good news. My chicken with the broken leg is walking again. Dr gave me two more shots and two more prescriptions for my infection

So sorry. Sounds like you could both use some love and support right now. Wish I was there to give you the hug in person.

Sundance, yikes! That's some scary stuff! The cat wouldn't have had Herpes, right?

Lisa, okay, I'll stop with the rooster thing.............right after I post this video

Cynthia, so sorry about Miss Piggy! I feel for you. I was so miserable when Violet died, and I did not have her nearly as long as you had your baby. Hugs to you!

Birdguy, hooray for chicken stock. I am in. :D

Sphinx, Elvis perked right up after bringing her in last night. BUT when I took her back out this morning she was mad mad mad she was hanging on to me like she did not want me to put her down in the coop. She has looked ok throughout the day! But when I go check, she runs up to me and hollers. She knows where its warm for sure. I may bring her in one more night, we will see how she is doing after dark. Madchicken, thanks for the idea on the hair gel. Thats a pretty good idea!

Sundance, I hope that infection goes away soon, that sounds awful! And I hope the cat does not have any....bad stuff...
