My turn to have attack of the quotes before I forget everything, lol=)
Oh, and Joybells, I will be hatching a bunch of SFH eggs this spring... come up to chickenstock and get some of my extra chicks
Ohhhh... sounds pretty!!!!!
Oh daer, that would be stressful!!! Glad that chick did ok!!
Sorry about your frustrations, Red... I really wish I could give you a hug, this will have to do for now..
Ok... just putting it out there again so ya'll remember... Doing lots of hatching this spring... I will have crested cream legbar chicks, Russian Orloff chicks, Swedish Flower Hen chicks and probably some extra Speckled Sussex, Welsummer, Blue-Laced Red Wyandotte and some other random breeds along with my own chicks (Marans, Ameracauna, Olive Egger and Easter Egger)... I hope to get most, if not all of them sold at Chickenstock... if there's something you want, let me know and I'll start keeping a list=)
Right now I have German New Hampshire chicks and a couple of my own with more of my own eggs in the bator, I will keep them until I know they are sexable. Oh, I'll also be hatching Wheaten Marans, but I plan on breeding them, so I will keep them until I know for sure what I am keeping for my project.....
Welcome!!! Oh, and nice to see you Joybells and the person with the Utes logo... I wish I had an experienced broody I could get to you.. only have one so far, but I have 4 bantam cochin pullets, specifically for brooding, but only one has gone broody, and she did it when it was -18degrees out, sheesh, at least the others weren't that determined, hahaHello everybody. New to the boards and stumbled on to this post from Utah. I am up north hear in Plain City and have a question. Does anybody know of any local (ogden area) mills that sell mash in smaller quantities. Don't want to have to buy a lot at one time, but from what I have read you can get the mash for about half the price of pellets or crumbles. Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm attempting to hatch LF Crele Polish.![]()

I had a scare this morning! BOTH lamps in one of my brooder pens were OUT!!! I had babies piled into a corner totally cold. I mean seriously.......I have two lamps in the "1-2 week old little baby" pen so I have a backup. It's insane that both bulbs burned out at the same time. I ended up bringing one chick into the house where I put her in one of my incubators to warm up for a few hours. Poor thing looked almost dead. Good news though.....I got her warmed up just in time and she's now in my indoor brooder with the new hatchlings acting perfectly normal. Whew!!! That was close. I would have been horrified if they all died.
Oh, and about the feed stores getting chicks.....even when I have several big brooders full of them and two in the house I'm still tempted. LOL
