Utah!

My teen son was just showing me his farm & chickens he built in "Minecraft"

Then he showed me that to get more chickens you merely select the egg you like and throw it into the coop and break them over & over until a chick pops out of one of them!

I have felt like doing JUST THAT while candling

My boys love Minecraft. I'm always a little distrubed by it, since it looks like Legos Gone Wild to me and I can't for the life of me figure out the appeal. Gets even more disturbing when the boys make lava pits and start throwing the chickens and sheep in. That just ain't normal. Good news for the day--Got 12 Welsummer eggs from Bargain, incubated them, and put all 12 into lockdown this evening before work. Joel is super excited that they all looked viable, so everyone cross your finger for him!

Red I love Sundance, she is such a sweetheart! We had a great time, I left with quite a new clutch of chickens so excited!!! Thanks for the new babies Sundance, my kids are going to jump for joy over the Seramas! I had so much fun visiting, we took a cute picture of us I'll post this weekend with a couple of my newest clutch. Fun day!

After you left I had other people come. They wanted fertile eggs. It was pretty funny the had an incubator with them as I had just set eggs 2 days ago. They took the eggs right out of my incubator. Pretty funny. they left and plugged the incubator back into the car. I told them to join this forum.

Ha Ha that is so true! I get dizzy trying to watch it, no idea how they remember where they are going

Sounds like we have similar families, I even have a Joel!
I have tried 2 times for Welsummers this year. 1st hatch- 3 boys Most recent hatch......unknown still.
I thought I had a boy and a girl but the boy is feathering out girly but getting a comb and some red in the wings and the "girl" is looking a little dark on the chest. Still waiting and watching these 2.

OK. i have been collecting Silkie eggs since Sunday from Cotton and Ratchet, but none of my hens have gone broody again. Soooo.....does anyone want these eggs? If not i will throw them on KSL and try to make a couple bucks. But to all my friends here they are free. I have been taking good care off them and been tipping the egg carton 2-3 times a day. These Silkies will be very pretty!!! They should come out white, blue, or blue splash.
Oh I wish I had a bator!!! I'd take them in a heart beat! I've been really wanting some blue silkies or splash chicks. I'm going to PM you :)

It's official - I have a second generation Icelandic chick in the garage

Still drying out under mom, so no pictures yet. Yay baby, you made it! Happy birthday!

Madchicken, I am most chagrined to say that I am sorely tempted to take those Silkie eggs. I keep thinking about how I can hatch eggs, now that I have an incubator, and I keep telling myself no. I would get overwhelmed with caring for more chicks! Please, someone take those eggs!!

That one on the left looks distinctly boyinsh in markings and the one on the right disctinctly girlish. Its not always 100% on Welsummers, but those fit the type pretty well, I would say!

Rykel, I think that eggs that are for hatching should be kept around 50 degrees. But, I've had some I kept in the fridge hatch just fine, as well as eggs I kept on the counter.

Oooooh, madchicken, I am soooooo sad with your timing. I started a school hatch on Wednesday, so my incubator is occupied, and I have only had one hen go broody ever, and she died almost 18 months ago. I want a silkie sooooo bad.

Cyndiloo, that is so funny about the minecraft chickens. My kids have told me about it, but I haven't seen it. That wellsummer on the left looks awfully boylie to me.

Sundance, they sound like perfect candidates for our group!

Red, congrats on your icelandic!!!!!!
