Utah!

Well, I guess sadly I won't be going to Chickenstock like I hoped. Ugh!!

And to all of you who were envious that I lived on acreage, had chickens, guineas, peafowl, goats, horses and an apiary (but unfortunately blessed with no human children of my own)... all good things come to an end!! They are called selfish, spoiled step-daughters and a husband who will do ANYTHING they want, even to be cruel and unfeeling to his wife to meet their demands. This isn't the first marriage he's allowed them to destroy, or even the second!! His last marriage lasted 4 months. He convinced me it was the ex's, now I know the culprits!! I'm so sorry to rant but please bare with me.

My husband of only one year, who allowed his grown, married with children daughter, to open a dance studio at our home in extreme rural Duchesne (against my intuition and wishes), has decided my critters are a detriment to her studio. We live on acreage, far away from the actual town of Duchesne!! Living in the desert had no draw for me however he had promised me privacy and since I have no children, my pleasure of animals.

Since her unsupervised students have recently raided my coops, broken eggs and fired up not only the roos, but also the hens so that they now defend their chicken area and chase those they feel threatened by, I have been told they are a liability. And since I'm not allowed to ask anyone to stay out of the private areas, without catching hell from him, my critters and I are getting the brunt of it all.

Mind you, it won't stop there now that she's getting her way.... again. She's already complained about the flies that my horses bring in (even though I had total fly control last year); that my Cashmere goats stink and that my honey bees should all be destroyed (because she afraid of bees). Since mine are honey bees and have no wish, other than to collect pollen and nectar, this is totally stupid and selfish!! They aren't even in the vicinity of the studio.

So, until I am able to find new living accommodations (yes, divorce, I am so tired of the lies, unfairness and lack of compassion... walking on eggshells to keep his daughters happy) my critters must be rehomed before they start receiving abuse or worse from my husband, or his son in laws, who think animals are only on earth to eat, hunt, trap or be used for target practice. This is like ridding myself of my children and is very painful however I am not given a choice, since the daughters repeatedly remind me that I live in their father's home, that they will inherit, thus, their home!!

Please PM me for the list of poultry, peafowl, guineas, Cashmere goats, quality registered quarter horses and beehives if interested. I sadly thank you for your understanding of my ranting in this time of extreme stress and unhappiness.

That's horrible.

Darbygill, your coop looks wonderful so far! And I'm with Cynthia - I need one of those doormats.

Well, two of my turkeys went to freezer camp yesterday. Actually, first they got a super spa day in the sunshine with all the grass, bugs, and grain they could eat. I took them out to my BF's house and he has taken care of them for me. I'm thankful I have him to help. It's kind of weird not seeing those two out back in the morning, but I know I gave them the very best life I could, and that makes me feel good.

I set my Icelandic eggs yesterday. These are from back East. T minus three weeks to hatch, and just you watch, I'll hatch out all roosters

Hey, I'll take it!

Have a Happy Easter, everyone!

Desert Springs, I feel so bad for you. Some parents have a hard time letting go....they need to remember that a spouse will (should) be with them the rest of their life, yet a child moves on to create their own family and needs to have their own space. Difficult situation for you!

I was out enjoying this beautiful morning...got some pics of my "paint" showdude to share. I absolutely LOVE this chicken to pieces. You can see my NN from Sundance in there too :) And my sparkles EE from Blujems.

Red, I'm glad you have your BF to help you out, too. I admire you for the way you are able to care of and love your animals, and keep things in perspective as to what their intended use was for us!
