Utah!

Cyndi, yes - you can see the bugs from up close. Wear gloves, for the sake of your sanity

Lice will be little white/pale grayish-brown things that are kind of oval-shaped. If you get close enough (or find any big enough
sickbyc.gif
) you'll see that some have kind of a stripe down their back. You can see their nits in little clusters of white around the base of the feather shafts, near the skin. I have yet to see mites on my birds, but I have seen red spider mites on our porch area before. They look as if someone has made a small dot with a red gel pen, only that dot moves. They're quick, too. You're most likely to see bugs around the vent, but they can be all over. Eww, I'm getting itchy just thinking about it!

Desert, I'm glad you got your babies back! I would have been steamed, had I found that someone was using "my" birds for cock fighting! I understand and respect that it is a big thing in some cultures, but I don't like it much. How did you find out that that's what they were doing?

Corvidae, I'm with you - Your children should be a big part of your life, no matter the age, but when they're adults they should not have control of your house, unless perhaps you're very elderly and infirm and need their help (and it's been agreed upon for the better good)

This post is picture heavy. I have had requests for some pictures so here they are
The first ones are of Ruby the ugliest chicken in the world she wants to be a house chicken

This is the splash hen thats a cross netween a black EE roo and a white leghorn. She lays blue eggs

EE and sizzle chicks hatched today and broody sizzle mom

Chrissy and Einstein

This is Robin my handicapped smooth coated sizzle she can;t lift her head

Good news! My chickens just aren't laying yet due to weather and sunlight, but they are getting ready to lay. My hen Lilifey went searching for a nest box, and my teacher says that my hen Sahara has an egg forming already.

I only have a rooster because he's a very gentle class project... He's at Wheeler Farm right now so he's safe, lol. Will hate to get rid of him. In the meantime, I will have hatching eggs available. Buff Brahmas, not show quality but their parents have nice temperments. Brahmas are my favorites for a reason <3 But I will need to get rid of my child-friendly male and a few hens eventually.

I love my Naked Neck! She doesn't have a name yet, and she isn't tame yet, but I won't give up on her.

Nice to meet people around her with my interests!

Sorry for the brief post, I'm in a hurry. I have photos in my gallery which I'll post later. I also have a video on my YT account, but it isn't up yet unfortunately~ Will post it tomorrow.

Red- thank you for the advice. I have emailed that info to her. Hopefully we can figure it out. When I called, she said it looked like the hen was trying to throwing straw onto her back??? Odd.

New addition born today. New bull that my boys named Orion.
He is Scottish Highlander/Blonde d'Aquitaine
Still waiting on the other mommy to calf, will be the same mix.
These live at Wheeler Farm right now.

Sorry for the double post. Here we go!

OMG.Cyndi! Those cows belong to my classmate! I was just there today! That's Gloria's calf, I believe! I feel all awesome now. XD My chickens here are at Wheeler Farm. :3

Taken today. Lilifey was browsing around the porch. <3

Taken awhile ago, when there was still snow around. I can't remember who it is, either Sahara or Mozart.

Taken today. This is my cock Zaphod and Kalahari in the corner. They were eager to scratch around at this time so it was hard to get good pictures.

Three of my baby chicks, Mimzy, Hashtag, and unnamed. Sorry for the bad quality, the light confuses my camera.

Taken a short time ago, my Brahmas dustbathing. They look dead, but they're not. XD

Pancake, I was there too.
I asked you about your brahmas, remember?
Joel, your classmate, is my son. The momma's name is Glory.
Nice to meet you

Cyndi, if I were that poor girl I would be throwing shavings on my back too :p I have had feather pickers do damage, it is usually more down by the tail though, or they pick at the muffs on my Ameraucanas. I have a few bald muffed Ameraucanas due to an overzealous grooming habit by on of my EE, she cleans their faces when they eat, and picks the crumbles off, takes a little fluff with it while she is at it. It is so funny they just stand their with their "chin" up, waiting for her to finish. Have a backbone girls, put your foot down! They look pretty scroungy I hope now that I am out there more I can get her to stop it, or she will have to go, she is making the poofies look ugly.

Sundance, the splash hen is sooooooo gorgeous, she is even prettier in person than the pics.

***Edited ALL those typos goodness. I did not have my glasses on :)

Thanks, the splash is the mother to a lot of the chicks everyone is hatching from my blue eggs

You tease me constantly with those blue eggs from that gorgeous hen. Who is/are the daddy/daddies do you know? I have one of that hen's sisters, from Moriahquilts same as yours, but not as speckled, she is almost solid white. Her eggs are not as blue as yours either, but she lays like crazy, so she is on my happy list :)
